In a nutshell; I graduated from EOSC in 1974; worked at psychiatric hospitals in Oregon; got my Masters in Social Work in 1982; and held the position of Personnel Director for various non-profits working with the mentally ill and drug and alcohol communities in Portland, OR.; and the International Air Academy in Vancouver, WA. When the world of mental health, non-profits, and employment litigation became too much, I opted out and opened a store - Kenton Antiques & Collectibles in Portland. It's now 15+ years later and I'm still loving it! My store has morphed over the years and now is about half antiques & collectibles and the other half books, magazines and various ephemera. We also sell on the Internet which definitely helps keep the store going. We list on Amazon, ABEbooks, Biblio, Choosebooks, TIAS, and have our own web site at: www.kentonantiques.com. My husband Mitch is a huge help with the store and is the primary buyer. He also has a full time job with the City of Portland as a Building Inspector, so he keeps pretty busy! Keith and Rose both live in Portland and are employed, who could ask for anything more! Come see us if you're ever in the Portland area, our store is at 8112 N Denver Ave. and we're open Tuesdays thru Saturdays 11am to 5pm. |
